I came here for a consultation and saw Dr. Keller and Dr. Lovett and told them of the look that I desired. We setup a date for the surgery. On the day of surgery I watched three movies as the procedure was going on with minimal discomfort. I went back to work the following day. I could not even come up with the words for how good the staff and the doctors were. The service was excellent, the follow up excellent. Over three years ago, I lost 110 pounds through diet and exercise. I was proud of my accompolishments but still not completely happy with my body and results due to excessive skin from my weight loss. Upstate Platic Surgery was recommended through the local gym that I attend. I was able to get a consultation appointment in a matter of days with Dr. Elizabeth Blakemore. Dr. Blakemore and her nurse, Katie, spent over an hour and a half with my husband and me at the appointment discussing my options. From the moment I met her, Dr. Blakemore was enthusiastic and optimistic. I liked that she was positive about areas of my body where I was quite critical. She made me feel extremely comfortable and at ease with the whole process. We felt so confident with her that we called back and scheduled my surgery the following day. My husband and I were given massive amounts of information and literature that helped us before, during, and after the surgery. My surgery was a complete success! Dr. Blakemore was readily available in the days, weeks and months after my surgery for appointments, after hour phone calls and advice. Her encouragement and support through the few rough days after the surgery were especially helpful. Five months later my scars are healing beautifully and I am ecstatic with my results. I was diagnosed with breast cancer of the left breast in April, 2010. I decided to have a bilateral mastectomy to decrease my chances of recurrence and to avoid some of the problems that I have seen my mother face when she chose a lumpectomy 18 years earlier when she was given the same diagnosis.
I met Dr. Lovett and his wonderful staff at Upstate Plastic Surgery shortly after my diagnosis. My husband and mother went with me to the appointment since each of us had lots of questions. We were all immediately put at ease by Dr. Lovett’s kindness and openness. He explained in terms that we could all understand the process for breast reconstruction and any problems that could arise from the surgeries. (I had done quite a bit of research on the internet and talked with other women who had undergone different procedures in their reconstruction process so that I could ask informed questions and understand more about what I was facing). Throughout the whole process, he answered all our questions and discussed the different options available.
