The consultation is the first step in the process of considering plastic surgery. This is the initial visit with the surgeon who will be performing your procedure. This is the time to ask questions and we encourage you to write those questions down before you come it. Also please feel free to take notes as your questions are answered. The typical consultation takes about an hour and consists of several other steps.
When you arrive at Upstate Plastic Surgery you will be greeted by one of our professional and trained staff members. They will register your basic demographic information and insurance cards if necessary as well as medical and health information.
Next you will enjoy a brief wait in our waiting room where you can look through magazines or watch a video of our services.
One of our clinical nurses will then situate you into one of our exam rooms where the physician that you have selected will meet with you to discuss your concerns and goals. Once the best procedure for you has been selected the nurse will show you the physicians before and after photo books so that you can better visualize the realistic surgical results. This is also a good time to ask other questions.
The last step of the consultation will be to meet with the surgery scheduler where she will discuss the cost of the procedure that you have selected and the options for financing. If you have a date in mind or wish to schedule surgery, the scheduler can set this up for you as well. If you are in the beginning stages of gathering information the surgery schedule can be a great help so please feel free to ask her questions as well. If you are not quite ready to book your surgery, the surgery scheduler remains a point of contact for future phone calls or scheduling needs. Many of our office staff have had procedures and will be glad to discuss these with you if you desire.
